Strawberry Ale Floats
After a long day, a cold brew really hits the spot. Well for someone who is not one for beer, strawberry ale hits the spot. But tonight, I wanted to turn my ale into this a whimsical boozy dessert, as part of a birthday celebration treat to my sister. When I was a little girl, I would always go to my classmates birthday parties and there would always be the same punch.: sherbet, 7-up and lime concentrate. As a child, this was pure sugary heaven, but as an adult, there are so many more options for "punch" why would I stick to just the one? With a creative mind, the options are quite endless. We are lucky now-a-day's to have a liquor store full of flavors and flavor combinations and the same goes for sherbet, sorbet, gelato, frozen yogurt and ice cream. Every time I go into the grocery store it seems like Ben and Jerry's has a new flavor they have whipped up. For me personally, I like to go local with the products I use, which is exactly why I purchased my sorbet from work.
I for one am not much of a drinker, but every once and a while having one drink after a day of working hard really tastes just right. My sister introduced me to Redd's Strawberry Ale and I was hooked. As we all know, I love sweets (surprise, surprise). This ale has just the right amount of sweetness, without being over the top. Pair this strawberry infused beer with a scoop, or two, of fresh berry sorbet and some sliced strawberries, we have ourselves some magic.
I wanted to go for the whimsical look so I found these super adorable paper straws at a store by my house. This added a special touch for the birthday girl. This would be perfect on a hot summer night, at a barbecue, or perhaps for ladies night. But honestly, it's perfect for any night. Even bitter cold fall nights like tonight, when you are inside with the ones you love watching silly movies and laughing about nonsense. These are the memories you cherish. These are good times to remember.
Strawberry Ale Floats
What you will need:
Strawberry Ale
Mixed berry or strawberry sorbet
Fresh strawberries
Chilled glass
Straws
Ice cream scoop
There is no recipe for this one folks. It is simple and delicious, perfect for entertaining. Simply place a scoop or two of sorbet into the chilled glass. Place thinly sliced strawberries around the sides of the glass, and pour ale right over the sorbet upon service. It will create a beautiful foam once poured that looks absolutely inviting and enticing.
Eat the sorbet with a spoon or simply let it melt into the ale, creating a sweet boozy dessert beverage.
Enjoy!
